AKA Sorority Inc. - Responsive Design & Development

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is the nation's largest historically African-American Greek-letter organization. It is a nonprofit sorority that cultivates high scholastic and ethical standards and provides 'service to all mankind.' Phi Phi Omega is the graduate chapter for the North Fulton region.

The executive board of North Fulton's chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. desired a complete make over for their chapter's website.

I worked as the Lead UX/UI Designer, Lead Developer, and Content Writer to bring this vision to fruition.

MY UX|UI DESIGNS

The Challenge

The board members were seeking more online engagement from their chapter members.

Most of the webpages needed to be password protected by 3 different membership profiles.

In addition, this organization had a breadth of information to display, and the previous website lacked hierarchical structure.

The Vision

My designs encouraged online membership engagement and better organized web content by leveraging the following:

  • Secondary navigation menus, fade-in content views, and accordions to organize the breadth of information.

  • A dynamic members' contact directory with the flexibility to add, update, and delete contact information.

  • The option to add a profile picture.

  • The ability for board members to add newsletters, chapter meeting notes, and financial documents.

  • The ability for members to like, share, and comment on newsletters, meeting minutes, etc.

  • Embedded real-time Instagram photos for ease of website maintenance.
